Maine McDonald’s/Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award

In collaboration with the Maine Red Claws, Maine McDonald’s and the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches will be presenting the 2nd annual award at the 2012 Maine McDonald’s All-Star Games –Maine McDonald’s/Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award.

For over twenty years the Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games has honored athletes that excel on the court and in the classroom. In 2009, the Maine McDonald's Spirit of the Game Award was added to honor two high school students involved in the basketball program - one from the East and one from the West Division - who embody the spirit of the sport, exemplify sportsmanship, show an ability to overcome obstacles and boundaries, and support and inspire their teammates and coaching staff.

The recipients of the 2011 Maine All-State Academic Scholarship are Carolyn Joseph of St. Dominic Academy and Michael McCann of Winslow High School. Each were each selected to receive the  $2,000 scholarship award.

The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) presented its prestigious Bob Brown Contributor Award to former Cony High School Girls Coach Paul Vachon. The award was presented at the 2009 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games banquet at Husson University in Bangor. Each year, the All-Star Games committee selects an honoree who has made a significant contribution to the sport of basketball in Maine.

The 2011 Mister and Miss Basketball Award were presented on March 12th at Maine Association of Basketball Coaches Awards Dinner.

Kayla Burchill of Deering High School High School received the Miss Basketball award.  Mr. Basketball honors went to Tyler McFarland of Camden Hills High School.
