Cheverus’ Kyle Randall and Cape Elizabeth’s Gabrielle Donahue Receive Maine McDonald’s® All-State Academic Scholarships

BANGOR, Maine (March 12, 2010) -- The Maine McDonald's® Owner/Operators Association tonight announced the recipients of the 2010 Maine All-State Academic Scholarship. Kyle Randall of Cheverus High School and Gabrielle Donahue of Cape Elizabeth High School were each selected to receive the  $1,000 scholarship award.


"Each member of the All-State Academic team is among the best and brightest student-athletes in the state," noted Doug Quagliaroli, Owner/Operator of McDonald’s restaurants in Belfast, Bucksport, Ellsworth, Machias and Old Town Maine. "On behalf of all the Maine McDonald's Owner/Operators, I'd like to commend Kyle and Gabrielle as well as all the members of the All-State Academic Team for their commitment to academic excellence and dedication to school and community activities."

Randall is the top 10% of his class at Cheverus High School. He has served as captain of the varsity golf, basketball and baseball teams. This year he helped lead the Stags basketball team to a State Championship title. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has received the Williams College Book Award and Cheverus’ Academic Excellence Award and was named an SMAA All-Academic.

Donahue is in the top 5% of her high school class and serves as Class Vice President and Secretary of the National Honor Society. A member of the Cape Elizabeth Leadership Program, she attended Girl’s State and won the 2009 George Eastman Young Leaders Award. A three-year varsity basketball player, she was voted captain in her junior and senior years. In 2008/2009, she received the Coach’s Award and was named Most Valuable Player.

The Maine All-State Academic Scholarship was created to recognize two members - one girl and one boy - selected from the Maine McDonald's All-State Academic Team. The ten boys and ten girls selected to the All-State Academic Team were nominated by their coaches and were chosen to represent the more than 148 high schools in the state of Maine.

The March 13th Game Day Schedule is as follows:

8:30am - 9:00am        State Foul Shooting Championship

9:15am -10:30am        Girls C/D Game

10:30am-10:45am        Three Point Shooting Competition               
11:00am-12:15pm        Girls A/B Game

12:15pm - 1:00pm        Awards Presentation & McDonald’s Melt-Down Half Time Show

1:15pm  -  2:30pm        Boys A/B Game

2:30pm  - 2:45pm        Slam Dunk Competition

3:00pm  - 4:15pm        Boys C/D Game

Game Day tickets are available at the door and are good for all four Games. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students, children and senior citizens.
