MARANACOOK’S MICHAEL LACHANCE AND PRESQUE ISLE’S SARAH PORTER SELECTED TO RECEIVE MAINE McDONALD'S® ALL-STATE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
BANGOR, Maine (March 13, 2009) -- The Maine McDonald's® Owner/Operators Association tonight announced the recipients of the 2009 Maine All-State Academic Scholarship.Michael LaChance of Maranacook High School and Sarah Porter of Presque Isle High School were each selected to receive the $1,000 scholarship award.
"Each member of the All-State Academic team is among the best and brightest student-athletes in the state," noted Doug Quagliaroli, Owner/Operator of McDonald’s restaurants in Belfast, Bucksport, Ellsworth, Machias and Old Town Maine. "On behalf of all the Maine McDonald's Owner/Operators, I'd like to commend Michael and Sarah as well as all the members of the All-State Academic Team for their commitment to academic excellence and dedication to school and community activities."
LaChance is the Valedictorian of his class at Maranacook High School. He has played varsity basketball and soccer and has been co-captain of both teams. He has been a member of the student council, the Interact club, and the National Honor Society. LaChance hopes to pursue a degree in Economics and Environmental Studies at either Bowdoin or Williams College.

Porter is the Valedictorian of her class at Presque Isle High School where she has been a member of the soccer, basketball, and tennis teams. Porter was selected by her classmates as Top Female Athlete for the Class of 2009. In addition, she plays the flute, piccolo, and tenor saxophone in her school’s Concert, Marching, and Game bands. Next Fall she plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono.
The Maine All-State Academic Scholarship was created to recognize two members - one girl and one boy - selected from the Maine McDonald's All-State Academic Team. The ten boys and ten girls selected to the All-State Academic Team were nominated by their coaches and were chosen to represent the more than 148 high schools in the state of Maine.

8:30am - 9:00am State Foul Shooting Championship
9:15am - 10:30am Boys C/D Game
10:30am - 10:45am Slam Dunk Competition
11:00am - 12:15pm Boys A/B Game
12:15pm - 12:45pm Awards Presentation/ Half Time Show
12:45pm - 2:00pm Girls A/B Game
2:00pm - 2:15pm Three Point Shooting Competition
2:30pm - 3:45pm Girls C/D Game
Game Day tickets are available at the door and are good for all four Games. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students, children and senior citizens.
