BANGOR, Maine (March 12, 2010) – This evening, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) presented its prestigious Bob Brown Contributor Award to Scarborugh High School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach Bob Fallon. The award was presented at the 2010 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games banquet at Husson University in Bangor. Each year, the All-Star Games committee selects an honoree who has made a significant contribution to the sport of basketball in Maine.
“Bob Fallon has demonstrated an unfailing commitment to high school basketball since the early 1970s,” said Jim Seavey, Scarborough High School’s Girls Varsity Coach. “From his early years playing schoolboy hoops in Rumford to his 50 seasons of coaching Girls basketball, he has helped to showcase high school basketball throughout the state. We are proud to recognize him for his contributions to Maine basketball.”
Fallon began his career at Mexico High School where he also coached football. Bob moved on to Oxford Hills High School, again serving as the head football coach and assistant basketball coach. While there, he founded the youth basketball program for the Oxford Hills School district. In the years that followed, Fallon coached girls' basketball at Edward Little High School in Auburn and at Oxford Hills High School in South Paris. Bob was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in the Class of 2004. For the past five years, he has served as the Assistant Coach for the Girls Varsity Basketball Team at Scarborough High School.
Also honored at the MABC Awards Banquet were members of the All-State Academic Team, the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Players, All-Star Coaches, the Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award recipients, the MABC Media Award honoree, and Mr. and Miss Basketball.
