Top High School Student-Athletes Named To 2009 Maine McDonald's®
High School Senior All-State Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Maine (February 18, 2009) -- The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) today announced selections for the 2009 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-State Academic Team. The ten boys and ten girls selected were nominated by their coaches and were chosen to represent the more than 148 high schools in the state of Maine. "The twenty high school seniors named to the 2009 Maine McDonald's All-State Academic Team are standouts in our local communities," said Mike Ortins, local Maine McDonald’s Owner/Operator. "Maine's local McDonald's owners commend these young men and women for their dedication to scholastic achievement and team sports and wish them much success in their future endeavors."

 

All-State Academic Selections
Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-State Academic Team members are selected by a panel of leaders from Maine's high school basketball coaching community. To be eligible for the team, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) requires players to meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve a grade point average of 90 or better for seven consecutive semesters.
  • Be a member of their school's varsity basketball team for at least two complete seasons.
  • Make a significant contribution to their team during the 2008-09 season.

The 2009 Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games marks McDonald’s 21st consecutive year as lead sponsor of this event. This year’s games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 14th. Additionally, the All-Star players, All-Star coaches, members of the All-State Academic teams, Regional Foul Shooting Champions, the Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award, the MABC Contributor Award honoree and Mr. and Miss Basketball will be recognized at an awards banquet on Friday, March 13th beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Husson University.

Game day tickets are good for all four Games and may be purchased at the door on Saturday, March 14th. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students, children and senior citizens. More information is available at http://www.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org
