Augusta ALL-STAR TEAM '09

AUGUSTA, Maine (February 18, 2009) – In Augusta and Bangor today, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced A/B East and C/D East and West player selections for the for the 2009 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games. Players representing 62 high schools from across the state have been honored with selection to the All-Star teams. (A player list is attached.) The A/B West All-Stars will be announced tomorrow at a 2:00 PM news conference in Portland. The All-Stars were selected based upon ballot returns on a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by MABC in January.

"Since 1988, the local Owner/Operators of Maine's McDonald's restaurants have been committed to recognizing student athletes across the state with this hallmark sporting event,” said Mike Ortins, local Maine McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “We salute the Maine McDonald's All-Star Team players for their dedication to academic and athletic excellence, sportsmanship and team spirit. "

Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award.

Portland ALL-STAR TEAM '09

Portland, Maine (February 19, 2009) – In Portland today, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced the A/B West player selections for the 2009 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games.

Yesterday in Augusta and Bangor, the A/B East, C/D East and C/D West players were announced. Top High School Student-Athletes Named To 2009 Maine McDonald's®
High School Senior All-State Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Maine (February 18, 2009) -- The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) today announced selections for the 2009 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-State Academic Team. The ten boys and ten girls selected were nominated by their coaches and were chosen to represent the more than 148 high schools in the state of Maine. (Complete statewide academic team list attached.)

"The twenty high school seniors named to the 2009 Maine McDonald's All-State Academic Team are standouts in our local communities," said Mike Ortins, local Maine McDonald’s Owner/Operator. "Maine's local McDonald's owners commend these young men and women for their dedication to scholastic achievement and team sports and wish them much success in their future endeavors."

FOUL SHOOTING ACES GO TO THE LINE

AUGUSTA, Maine (February 18, 2009) -- The Maine State Foul Shooting Champions for 2009 will be decided at this year's Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games. The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) organized competitions earlier this year to determine the regional finalists who will compete for the State Championship during the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star weekend. The State Foul Shooting Competition will be held from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Husson University in Bangor.

PORTLAND MABC NAMES SEMI-FINALISTS

PORTLAND, Maine (February 19, 2009) -- Local Maine McDonald's Owner/Operators and the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) today announced the Western Class A and B semi-finalists for the 2009 Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball Awards. The award, the state's highest basketball honor, recognizes one outstanding female high school senior basketball player and one outstanding male high school senior basketball player. Players are chosen for their performance on the court, as well as their contribution to their team and to Maine basketball.
