The 2009 Mister and Miss Basketball Award were presented on March 13th at Maine Association of Basketball Coaches Awards Dinner. Morgan Frame of Waterville High School High School received the Miss Basketball award. Mr. Basketball honors went to Thomas Knight of Dirigo High School. |
Each year the Mister and Miss Basketball Award is presented to the senior player who has exhibited outstanding skills throughout his/her career, has made a significant impact on his/her team, has demonstrated respect for the game through leadership on and off the court, has epitomized the values of sportsmanship and has been a positive school and community citizen.
Miss Basketball
Morgan Frame has led Waterville High School to one of the most successful runs in recent Maine schoolgirl basketball history, capping off her career with three consecutive Class B state championships and 66 straight victories — 69 in a row counting three Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference title games. The daughter of Doug and Angela Frame, Morgan plans to continue her basketball career and studies next year on a full basketball scholarship at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
Other finalists for the honor of Miss Basketball were Diana Manduca of Deering High School and Sloane Sorrell of Noble High School.
Mr. Basketball
One of the most highly recruited players from Maine in recent years, Thomas Knight led Dirigo to the 2009 Western Maine Class C title and a 74-10 record throughout career with coach Gavin Kane’s club. The son of Karl and Kathy Knight, Thomas will continue his basketball career on scholarship at Notre Dame.
Other finalists for the title of Mr. Basketball included: Mick Distasio of Cheverus High School, and Gordon Fischer of Camden Hills Regional High School.
